Thai oil massage

Thai oil massage is a variety of traditional Thai massage. It is an intense and deep massage. It is performed directly on the body using heated massage oil. The massage consists of slow, rhythmic pressure, sliding, rolling, stroking, rubbing and stretching movements. It is concentrated along the energy lines of the body, called “sen” in Thai. It is said that there are over 70 000 “sen” in the body, and Thai massage focuses on stimulating the 10 most important “sen”, using the hands, thumbs, elbows and feet, all to release tension in the body

The therapist also positions the body of the massaged person in yoga-like positions and gently sways the body to open the joints and restore flexibility. Thai massage is performed in four basic positions:

  • lying on the back
  • lying down alternately on the right and left sides
  • lying on the stomach
  • in a sitting position
